Giovanah Oliveira

Giovanah Oliveira da Silva is a jiu-jitsu black belt under Caio Almeida as well as a representative of the Almeida Jiu-Jitsu team, a São Paulo (Brazil) based squad, in the sport’s global circuit. Giovanah Oliveira first made waves in the sport as a colored belt on the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) league, where she won important medals in the sport. She went on to cement her claim as one of the top athletes in the game in her rookie year (2025-2026) with medals at the World and World No-Gi Championships.

Giovanah Oliveira Biography

Giovanah Oliveira was born in October 2011 in São Paulo, Brazil, where she grew up.

As a child, dancing was Giovanah’s favorite activity. She practiced ballet and jazz dancing extensively during her childhood.

Oliveira’s mother, Vanessa, was always connected with sports, and as Giovanah reached her 16th birthday, “mom” started taking jiu-jitsu classes. Believing this would be a good activity to learn together with the rest of the family, Giovanah and the rest of her brothers signed up for the local BJJ social project led by an Almeida Jiu-Jitsu team black belt.

Grappling quickly became a passion for the young Paulistana, first under coach Diego in her local neighborhood and later as she became more invested in the sport, with Diogo Almeida at the team’s Tatuapé training centre, where she received her blue belt.

As a blue belt, Giovanah earned a few important gold medals and progressed on to the main Almeida JJ training ground in Itaquera, under Caio Almeida. Mr. Caio became Oliveira’s mentor, promoting her through all the consequent belts, including her black belt, which she earned on May 30, 2025, while on the #1 step of the podium at the IBJJF World Championship.
