Marlon Tajik Biography
Marlon Tajik was born on May 11, 2003, in Sweden.
Marlon Tajik started practicing Ju-Jutsu (also known as Traditional Jiu-Jitsu or Japanese Jiu-Jitsu) at the age of 7 under Johan Sjöholm, a martial art that combines strikes and grappling and is particularly popular in Scandinavia and Central Europe. His career in the sporting facet of this martial art (Sport Ju-Jitsu) picked up steam 3 years later.
While building up his record in SJJ, Marlon opted to change teams and joined Nacka Dojo, a gym with a stronger emphasis on the sport he wanted to succeed in. A year after joining Nacka, Tajik added BJJ to his activities to improve his ground skills for SJJ.
As the love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grew, Marlon Tajik started distancing himself from SJJ. Marlon ‘s father, Mike Tajik, also joined BJJ and was very enthusiastic about this activity, later earning his own black belt.
After realising he had real potential to reach high ground in BJJ, Marlon opted to switch clubs and join Team Prana, one of the leading jiu-jitsu academies in Sweden, a club led by coach Kenta Hammarström.
Prana raised the level of Tajik to that of the best colored belts in Europe, and the youngster started travelling more and more to the US for the World ‘s top tournaments. Although the Prana Academy was an affiliate of the Checkmat Association (a squad with a strong network in the US), as a purple belt, Marlon started connecting with Andre Galvao ‘s Atos Academy in San Diego, California, USA. That relationship grew stronger as he developed into a familiar face to most who follow the sport, particularly in the No-Gi circuit, eventually leading to his brown and black belt promotions, the latter received in January 2025 from the hands of Andre Galvao.
