Jack McVicker

Jack McVicker was born in the Midwest of the United States, where he grew increasingly curious of martial arts and combat sports during his formative years. This curiosity led him to start his martial arts training at the age of 13.

His quest to become a complete martial artist guided Jack to a variety of styles, including tae kwon do and hap-ki do, where he earned his first black belts. McVicker also found inspiration in the legendary martial arts expert, and former Bruce Lee student Dan Inosanto, with whom Jack earned an instructor’s certification in both jeet-kune do and Filipino martial arts (later enhancing in knowledge on the subject with Paul Vunak).

As the reputation of Brazilian jiu jitsu grew, during the 1990’s, so did McVicker’s interest in grappling, finding in Fabio Santos his first jiu jitsu instructor – under whom he earned his blue belt.

Jack would later gear his jiu jitsu training towards Wellington “Megaton” Dias in Phoenix, Arizona. McVicker quickly became one of Megaton’s most prolific students, earning all belts under the Brazilian from there on. His black belt promotion taking place on August 2003, making him Mega’s first black belt.

While learning the trade of jiu jitsu, McVicker opened his own academy in the Midwest (Illinois), becoming one of the region’s pioneering coaches. The academy grew fast under Jack’s precise coaching methodology, quickly branching out to other locations.

Among Jack McVicker’s long list of accomplishments, there is also a degree in criminology from the Indiana State University.
