Vinicius Inacio Biography

Vinicius Inacio was born in October 2004 in São Sebastião, São Paulo, Brazil, where he lived until he was 9, when he moved to Caraguatatuba, also in SP state.

It was at Caraguatatuba that Vinicius began his jiu-jitsu journey at age 10, at a neighbouring social project built by the local city hall with Claudio Calasans’ black belts, André Medeiros, and Anderson França, who awarded Inacio all his kids’ belts.

At the yellow belt level, Vinicius started paying more attention to the sport and the attention it gathered, internationally, while watching events such as the Gracie Family’s Metamoris online. The show propelled in him the desire to pursue BJJ professionally. From that early age, he began dedicating all his spare time to this sport and to competing in it, often travelling to São José dos Campos to train with the head coach of his affiliation, Claudio Calasans.

When he was 18, Vinicius opted to move to São José dos Campos, SP, to focus on his training in a more professional environment, picking the Calasans Camargo gym where coaches Claudio Calasans, Alexandre Jesus, and Alvaro Borges became his main instructors.

Calasans was behind Vinicius’s tuition throughout his blue and purple belt career, two belts which Inacio earned very respectable medals. As he earned his brown belt, his coaches and himself agreed it would be best for him to move to the United States and work with one of the top academies in the world, Atos Headquarters, to reach his full potential.

Vinicius Inácio began his training with coach André Galvão and Angelica Galvão in San Diego, California, as a brown belt, and quickly became one of the most successful athletes in the group, proving his worth at the top level of the sport. These performances earned him his black belt in early June 2025.
