Tarcisio Santos Biography
Tarcisio Santos was born in September 2006 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and grew up in Senhor do Bonfim, also in Bahia.
As a child, Tarcisio followed the traditional path of a sporty Brazilian kid, playing football (soccer) as his main activity. At the age of 9, a jiu-jitsu gym opened near his house, and he decided to give it a try. He was hooked on the sport from his first class under the leadership of coach Marcos Wolf and started competing in the local kids’ categories early on.
Training under the banner of team Nova União with coach Wolf and, at a later stage, with Vugner Silva (who promoted him to blue belt), the juvenile athlete Tarcisio Santos had the opportunity to train with Marcio André in the United States, a celebrated coach and athlete also affiliated with Nova União. That initial contact with Marcio led Santos to believe he should pursue a career as a professional jiu-jitsu athlete, and he took his first steps in that direction from that moment.
Coach Marcio Andre became Tarcisio’ s instructor when the young Bahia native was a juvenile blue belt, and it was Andre who promoted him through the belt system, including his black belt, awarded on the steps of the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship podium in December 2025.
