Rodrigo Caporal Biography
Rodrigo Caporal was born on the 27th of April 1983 in Guarulhos, Brazil, though he was raised in Caraguatatuba in the coast of the State of Sao Paulo. Rodrigo Caporal started relatively late in Jiu Jitsu, for a high end athlete in the sport. He began his training when he was 18 years old, simply as a way to vent his energy and stress, his first coach was Omero Pessoa, a man that followed Caporal’s evolution in BJJ, from white to brown belt and to whom he owes a lot of what he is today. When Caporal received his purple belt in 2004, he took an offer to start coaching BJJ, a job he still enjoys today, giving classes all over the World.
It was when he reached his brown belt that he moved cities to train with acclaimed instructor Ramon Lemos at his academy in Rio Claro. There he shared the mats with some of the World’s finest Jiu Jitsu practitioners, people like Claudio Calasans, Rafael and Guilherme Mendes, “Durinho” Burns amongst many others in a star filled BJJ camp. At the Atos academy he acknowledged how important BJJ was in his life and decided to make it his full time occupation.
Today, more focussed in MMA, a career he started in 2005 as a purple belt, Rodrigo Caporal still plans to become a Jiu Jitsu World Champion. He still takes time off his busy schedule to compete in the most prestigious championships on the BJJ callender.
