Victor Honório

Victor Honório is a iu-jitsu black belt under José Honório Filho of CT Honorio who, traditionally, represents GF Team at an international level. On May 2015 Honório turned many heads his way after reaching the final of Copa Pódio‘s Heavyweight Grand Prix, one of the main professional events on the jiu-jitsu circuit at the time, defeating many well-established black belts despite being a brown belt. Once he did reach the black belt, Victor maintained his status as one of the top ultra-heavyweight competitors of his generation.

Victor Honório Biography

Victor Honório was born on the 12th of October, 1993 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Victor’s father was a martial arts fanatic, with a black belt in karate, years of experience in Thai boxing and luta livre esportiva, who instilled his love for combat sports on his son.

When Victor was 4 years old, his father decided to start training jiu jitsu, and brought the young Honório with him to the famous Top Brother academy, led by Master Cezar Guimarães. He also signed Victor on judo and freestyle wrestling classes.

Throughout his childhood, Victor excelled in all 3 grappling sports, especially in wrestling where he earned a spot at the Brazilian national squad, where he became the first Brazilian to earn a pan american title in the cadet division (2010). In his teens Victor also added boxing and muay thai, competing in the amateur circuit.

As a purple belt Victor Honório started training with GF Team, arguably the best heavyweight academy in Rio de Janeiro. Though he trained with Top Brother and GF Team, all Victor’s belts were awarded by his father: José Honório Filho. Including his black belt, received by the end of June, 2015.
