The 2014 edition of the Pan American Jiu Jitsu championship, one of the top competitions on the BJJ calendar, is about to start, and this year sees some real American born title contenders in several divisions, and may very well be a big year for the US contingent. Check here the results of the BJJ European Open of 2014. The black belt tournament happened on the 25th and 26th of January in Lisbon, Portugal and it put together some of the top competitors in the grappling world, opening this way the BJJ calender of 2014.
It is finally here! After much thought and months of real world testing the BJJ Heroes x Ezekiel Kimonos collaboration Jiu Jitsu gi is finally here. The BJJ Heroes Gi is a lightweight kimono, fit for BJJ competition with BJJ Heroes embroyded logos at the front (chest), side (right arm) and back (top) as well as Ezekiel logo on the pants/trousers and arm (left). The debate generated over this past week regarding female competitor Gabrielle Garcia who was asked to compete against men at the last ADCC led us to ask the question to a few of our Jiu Jitsu friends, professionals of the sport, men and women that regularly compete at the highest level in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Another edition of the world’s most prestigious submission wrestling/No-Gi Jiu Jitsu tournament in the world happened on the 19th and 20th of October, 2013. Here are the fill results of the ADCC 2013.
There is a famous quote in jiu jitsu that says: “jiu-jitsu é a única arte marcial que tem família” (jiu-jitsu is the only martial art that has a family), though my knowledge of all martial arts isn’t strong enough for me to attest the truthfulness of this statement, my understanding of the background and the history of the sport can certainly verify that strong family ties are what helped build this sport/martial art.

This year’s heavyweight edition of the Copa Podio (Podium Cup 2013) was seen with great anticipation. The famous tournament brought to Brazil one of the world’s most loved brown belts, Keenan Cornelius to compete against the top black belts in the world. Metamoris Pro Jiu Jitsu Invitational is a grappling event where some of the top names in the jiu jitsu world will face each other in much anticipated super-fights. The fight’s winners are determined by submission only, meaning, if after 20 minutes of fighting there hasn’t been a tapout, the fight will be declared a draw, regardless of any positional dominance that may occur throughout the fight.

Wow, it doesn’t seem right but it is, the Pan American Championship is at our doorstep once again and a year has passed since Rodolfo Vieira made his first big statement of 2011, winning both his weight and the open weight divisions. This year’s event will be held from the 29th of March until the 1st of April.
